One in five North Carolinians lives in a rural community, and while rural and urban residents have similar health care needs, many rural communities experience shortages of key health professionals.  In this brief, we explore gaps in health professional workforce in rural North Carolina, and discuss promising practices to recruit health professionals to rural areas.
