We’ve been talking about it for months, and it’s finally here – the transformation to Medicaid managed care in North Carolina.

The latest issue of the North Carolina Medical Journal is packed with history and context for this transformation, information on what Medicaid managed care is expected to look like, and advice from those who have already been through it. The issue also includes commentaries from each of the organizations tapped to provide prepaid health plans to Medicaid beneficiaries in North Carolina.

“Implementing big changes requires strong partnerships across many stakeholders,” writes NC DHHS Secretary Mandy K. Cohen. “The work done to date to design and prepare for Medicaid managed care would not have been possible without collaboration and extensive feedback from many stakeholders across all sectors.”
