On March 11, the country marked one year since the COVID-19 crisis was declared a pandemic. Over half a million Americans have died from the virus in that time with millions more experiencing economic, educational, social, and other health consequences. Over the past year, the North Carolina Institute of Medicine and South Carolina Institute of Medicine and Public Health have monitored state and federal actions to address the pandemic.
