The North Carolina Oral Health Summit was held on April 8, 2005 and included 63 participants. The goal of the Summit was to identify potential strategies for improving access to dental care, whether by continuing to implement the original recommendations from 1999 or developing new strategies. Summit participants reviewed the recommendations outlined in the 1999 report of the NCIOM Task Force on Dental Care Access to determine if the issues were still relevant, the actions that had occurred to implement the Task Force’s recommendations, and the barriers to implementation. Participants then suggested changes to the original recommendations.
